'The X Factor' 2013 Top 3 Results: Over 25s Jeff Gutt Beats Out Judge Cowell's Country Trio 'Restless Road' [Video]
The X Factor 2013 Top 3 results are out! On Thursday night's performance episode viewers say goodbye to "groups" judge Simon Cowell's country trio Restless Road. However Cowell does still have a dog in the fight with the boyfriend/girlfriend duo Alex and Sierra. This year's Top 3 rounds out with new judge Paulina Rubio's Carlito Olivero and Kelly Rowland's Jeff Gutt of the over 25s group.
Demi Lovato was the first judge eliminated and left with no acts left in the competition.
To earn a spot in the next-to-last elimination group Carlito Olivero took a page out of his mentor Rubio's playbook and sang "Suavemente," by merengue singer Elvis Crespo. Combining elements of Spanish and English, Olivero was singing straight from his wheelhouse, advancing him into the Top 3.
The last remaining competitors on Cowell's group team are the loveable beach-couple Alex and Sierra. Opting to have Alex sing the melody and Sierra a low harmony, the duo nailed a version of Passenger's "Let Her Go."
The most shocking result last night was X Factor judge Kelly Rowland's over 25s contestant Jeff Gutt. Singing a version of the Journey smash "Open Arms," was enough to make it past the Cowell's country trio. Though Gutt had an excellent performance, I would have bet on America's first country One Direction.
Tune in for The X Factor 2013 finale episodes December 18 and 19 at 8 PM on FOX.
