'The Witness' PS4 Pro Latest News, Update: New Patch Reflect Game Visuals

Improvement is the name of the game for Thekla Inc.'s "The Witness." The studio has recently released a patch for the game.

"The Witness'" Jonathan Blow himself spoke his thoughts about the game's patch, which covers the game's final specifications. In a statement, as cited by "The Witness'" official website, Blow said that they were definitely supporting HDR, on both the PlayStation 4 Pro and the base model PlayStation 4. He added that if the game detected an HDR TV, it would start in HDR mode, which worked in all resolutions.

As per Blow, the game would render at 1080p, 60fps, and 4x MSAA, which was considerably higher than the base PlayStation 4's 900p, 60fps, and 2x MSAA, for players who owned a PlayStation Pro and were outputting to a 1080p TV. For players who owned a PlayStation 4 Pro and were outputting to a 4K TV, they could choose between a 4K 2x MSAA rendering for everything, 30fps, and 1440p 2x MSAA rendering of the game world, upscaled to 4K, text and UI rendered at 4K, 60fps.

Blow also said that he did not know yet the exact release date for the patch, but it was coming sooin November. As per the developer, they were now in the process of "nailing down" the little details and ensuring that they were good. Blow reassured that he would announce the release date as soon as they knew.

Along with "The Witness," other games set to have PlayStation 4 Pro patches are "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," "Modern Warfare" Remastered, and "Horizon: Zero Dawn," as per Game Spot.

Developed by Thekla Inc., "The Witness" was initially released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and iOS on Jan. 26.
