Game developer CD Projeekt has just released the second playable character for 'The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt' to increase the already great anticipation for the game. 'The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt' is currently scheduled for release on May 19, 2015.

'The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt' has a new playable character named Ciri, who is described as an ashen-haired girl from ancient prophecy. CD Projekt Red revealed that Ciri is a skillful sword fighter who is alert and fast. The character can "blink" and has a hidden mythical power.

A background brief of Ciri reads:

"A descendant in a long-lost Elven-blood lineage, Ciri plays an important role in the Witcher lore-a powerful, living weapon capable of both healing and destroying the world she inhabits. Her presence will allow the studio to dig into some different narrative angles, but it emphasized that the game remains entirely about the Witcher, Geralt."

CD Projekt Red public relations officer Robert Malinowski has also revealed how gamers can make use of Ciri in the 'The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt'.

"Ciri is playable only during certain moments in the game - we introduce her to give gamers another perspective in the story to make it even more engaging. You won't play as her for long periods of time, but since she's crucial to the plot, we thought that additional insight will allow gamers to better bond with this cool character," Malinowski said.

However, fans of the main character Geralt need not worry as he is still the main focus of the game.

"We introduce Ciri as supportive narrative tool and not because of gameplay mechanics. The Witcher was always about Geralt and that has not changed, but that handful of moments when you play as Ciri provide us with glimpses of how the story feels from the other side," Malinowski added.

Nevertheless, the new character will have a close bond with Geralt that will create more excitement for the game.

"She's a living weapon... and everyone wants to control her. This, plus she also has her own will and agenda, so it's not just finding her that counts. I think that is the most important aspect of this character. Geralt knows Ciri since she was a child. She's Geralt's apprentice and they have a close emotional bond - he trained her so she could become a witcheress," the developers explained.

Hopefully 'The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt' does not suffer any delays in its production, and gamers will be able to enjoy the third game in the series when it comes out next year.
