'The Witcher 3' News: Card Game ‘Gwent’ Set To Be Available On PC, Xbox One

Good news for "The Witcher 3" fans as the card game, "Gwent," can soon be played on PC and Xbox One.

The announcement was made during the Microsoft E3 2016 press conference. Along with the announcement was a trailer that was also revealed at the event. The game, according to IGN, will have both a single player and multiplayer mode.

"The closed beta begins on Xbox One and Windows in September," it said.

The "Gwent" is a trading card strategy game included in "The Witcher 3." According to the news reports, CD Projekt Red is developing the stand-alone game.

Escapist Magazine said "Gwent" will be a free-to-play game, which will launch first on Xbox One and PC consoles. Later, it will be available on PS4.

"The game will feature 'optional microtransactions,' but CD Projekt Red did not mention exactly what they will be. It will also feature cross-play, at least between the Xbox One and PC versions of the game," it added.

The new game will feature the same basic gameplay, but with redesigned cards, a competitive multiplayer mode, and a full-blown single-player campaign. Those who have played "The Witcher 3" will be familiar with how "Gwent" will go, but some of the cards will be redesigned and new cards will be introduced.

The news about the new game was also published on the official website of "The Witcher 3."

"Join in The Witcher universe's favorite card game! In GWENT, you clash with your friends in fast-paced duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction," the announcement said.
