'The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings' Free To Play On Xbox One, Available Through Backwards Compatibility

Microsoft has announced a few games that will backwards compatibility. These games can be played on Xbox 360 and Xbox. The games that are included in this special offer are "Soulcalibur," "Counter-Strike: GO," and "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings."

"The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" can be downloaded for free according to Slash Gear. The promo will be available for two weeks, ending on February 5, 2016. Microsoft and CD Projekt RED have worked together to make the game absolutely free until the promo expires. The game can be downloaded for free via this link.

"The Witcher 2" is a single player action role playing game developed by Polish studio CD Projekt RED. The game can be played on Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, OS X and Linux.

The game is based on the novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The game was first released for Microsoft Windows on May 17, 2011 and for Xbox 360 on April 17 2012.

As of September of 2014, The Witcher franchise had sold eight million copies worldwide, but the latest game in the series released in 2015, "The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt," sold over six million copies in just the first six weeks following its launch. 

"The Witcher 2" got high review scores from a variety of publications. IGN, Game Spot and Euro Gamer all scored the game 9/10. Game Informer gave a higher score of 9.5/10 while Game Radar scored it the highest, a perfect 10/10.
