'The Winds Of Winter' Release Date & Rumors: Book Set To Be Released Simultaneously With 'A Dream of Spring'

While George R.R. Martin has not confirmed anything yet as to the release date of the sixth installment of his "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel, the book is rumored to be released in 2017.

Fans of the novel series and the HBO series "Game of Thrones" have been waiting for Martin to announce the release date of "The Winds of Winter," but their hopes for the big announcement at the MidAmericon were frustrated when the author chose to keep mum about the issue.

Fans speculated that Martin would finally announce the release date of the book at the science fiction and fantasy convention. But while he made an appearance at the event, he remained silent about the fate of the widely anticipated novel.

Since the waiting has already been too long, some speculate that "The Winds of Winter" will be released simultaneously with the seventh installment of the novel, titled "A Dream of Spring." While the author has not confirmed the rumors to be true, he previously admitted having a hard time finishing the book.

In his previous interviews, George R.R. Martin admitted that there are days when no concept comes into his mind, so he ends up just sitting down and reading his emails. He said, however, that some days are good, when ideas are overflowing and he gets to write as much as he could.

Meanwhile, there are theories that the book will confirm Jon Snow's parentage. Some fans believe that his parents are Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.
