'The Winds Of Winter' Release Date, Latest News: George R.R. Martin Will Be Gone For Months To Finish The Book

"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin broke hearts of the series fans once again, not because of the death of a new character, but because of his announcement that the latest book in his novel series, "The Winds of Winter," is still not yet finished.

The renowned author recently confirmed that he was still in the process of finishing the next book in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire" series.

George Martin has already completed five out of the seven parts of the saga, and the "Game of Thrones" series has already caught up with the books as well. Fans who hope that the remaining parts of the saga will cover for the spoilers for the hit TV series are now disappointed to know that the author will not release the highly anticipated book this 2016.

Martin recently updated his blog and mentioned that he will be gone for a few months so he could finish his book. According to the author, he will grace the Guadalajara International Book Fair and that will be the last time that fans will get to see him, at least in 2017. He said he's going to prioritize the completion of "The Winds of Winter" in the coming months.

Martin's announcement led to speculations that "The Winds of Winter" will not come anytime soon so fans should either re-watch the series in the interim or wait for the book to be released. At this point, however, it is pretty clear that it would take a long while before the book finally hits bookstores.
