'The Winds of Winter' Release Date News, Rumors: Will George RR Martin Complete New Book Before ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Premiere?

Fans of George RR Martin will be delighted to know that the author, whose novel "A Song of Ice and Fire" inspired the hit HBO television series 'Game of Thrones,' has said that he is committed to complete his sixth novel in the series "The Winds of Change" before the TV show's Season 6 premiere.

In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly in April this year, Martin said, "I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."

According to Latin Post, since HBO premiered 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 on April 12 this year, it is likely that the next season of the show will be premiered sometime around the same time next year. This means that fans of Martin can get the freshly printed copies of "The Winds of Change" novel in the spring of 2016.

Martin is so focussed on writing and finishing 'The Winds of Winter,' he did not accept the responsibility to write the script for HBO's 'Game of Thrones' Season 6.

In fact, Martin sacrificed many things, and while it has been taking some time for the author to finish the novel, he has assured fans that it will be worth the wait, particularly with the plot that he has in mind.

The report says that recently the author shared, "This is going to drive your readers crazy, but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations."

Martin added, "Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved... it all makes sense. But it's nothing I've ever thought of before. And it's nothing they can do in the show, because the show has already-on this particular character-made a couple decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions."
