'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Premiere Date, Spoilers: What Happens After Negan's Victim's Death?

In April, "The Walking Dead" made headlines when the season 6 finale left a huge cliffhanger with Negan beating one of the survivors to death with his baseball bat, Lucille. As the popular series returns this October, fans will finally know who died that horrific death.

However, executive producer Greg Nicotero revealed in his interview with Geeking Out that the controversial death is not even the most terrible twist in the season 7 premiere.

Speaking about the premiere episode of the upcoming season, Nicotero said, "There's so much more that happens in that episode that is more heartbreaking than that moment, that by the time the episode is over it's almost too much. It's that intense. It just keeps getting worse. It goes lower and lower and lower and lower."

Nicotero also shared that filming the big death scene in the premiere episode resulted in two of the hardest weeks of his life, so it was really hard for him to imagine that anything could possibly be more awful than the thought of that-- that at least one character who has managed to survive troops of zombies is going to get brutally killed by a bad guy with a baseball bat.

The executive producer also teased that after the brutal murder of one of his group members, Rick will feel powerless and the rest of the survivors will feel helpless, making the episode feel even worse.

"The Walking Dead" premieres for its seventh season on October 23, 9:00 P.M. on AMC.
