‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 News & Spin-off Spoilers: Glenn's Death & New Series Storyline
'The Walking Dead' has yet to return on October 7, 2015 but this doesn't mean that Robert Kirkman, creator of the famous zombie apocalypse TV show, isn't helping fans figure out what could be ahead of our favorite survivors.
AMC President Charlie Collier, actor Steven Yeun (Glenn from 'The Walking Dead') and TV show producer Robert Kirkman were at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas this week. A video of the three started jokingly about the fanbase that the show had accumulated and would follow their set the whole time. They were eventually asked about the possible story for the next season and what viewers can expect from the upcoming spin-off "Fear the Walking Dead".
During Season 5 finale, Rick had just shot one of Alexandria's notorious characters when Morgan arrives at scene. Viewers can recall that Morgan and his son was Rick's first human encounter after he had woken up from a coma in Season 1. They have crossed paths again when Morgan had a mental breakdown some time after the death of his son. The Season 5 finale implies a brewing strain for both characters which might happen in the next season.
"Having Rick and Morgan together, finally, again is a huge deal, and it's definitely going to be a big part of Season 6," Kirman said according to Bustle, "Now it's a very different Rick and a very different Morgan who are going to have a completely different relationship. And it's the questions of how they're going to interact, how they're going to work together - if they're going to work together - and what comes from those interactions is going to be basically the spine of Season 6."
Moreover, rumors that Glenn's death could be inevitable for the next season, mirroring his death on the comicbook of the same title, was also discussed at the event. As spoiler, Glenn had been bludgeoned by a baseball bat to his death in the comicbook. Although the producer jokingly said that they don't kill off their characters, Steven Yeun was optimistic enough that if Glenn were to leave the storyline it would be with a bang.
Meanwhile, 'Fear the Walking Dead' will be a spin-off companion series set in Los Angeles. Kirkman has mentioned that the plot of the story does not happen during the zombie apocalypse but a much earlier time.
"[Learning the origins] is not the priority in Walking Dead; that's not the priority in Fear the Walking Dead," Kirkman says, "Every other story deals with that stuff and we're concerned about the heart," read on Mashable. The spin-off will air this summer and is contracted to have two seasons under wraps.
