'The Walking Dead' has been successful in bringing forth a new element of their apocalyptic survival series every season, and after what we've witnessed in the last, we can only expect things to shake up even further.

Actress Melissa McBride recently spoke with EW during a photo shoot to discuss how crazy things were going to get for season six.

"There's so much stuff going on," McBride told EW. "They're topping last year, I can tell you that."

"As far as mindset, there's a lot of things going on in different story arcs and different characters coming in that are really pitting the characters against their own selves as far as, you know, where they stand."

Season five ended with Rick Grimes attempting to alert the citizens of Alexandria of the impending doom they all faced if they didn't wake up. It appears that most weren't on his side, however this next season is hinting at a threat that forces them to choose.

"We've all just been around ourselves. We're all kind of doing the same things. But there's other people with different points of view coming in that are challenging those things. But where do you put it? How do you sit with it? That's one of the things that's also happening. It's a crazy ride."

This seems to be referring to a possible new villain or group that arrives and threatens not only the survivors, but the folks at Alexandria. Could it be the rumored Negan character that comic book fans have been patiently awaiting?

'The Walking Dead' plans on returning to AMC on October 11, with their spin-off series, 'Fear the Walking Dead' premiering in August.
