'The Walking Dead' Cast News: Lauren Cohan Speaks On Season 6
AMC's 'The Walking Dead' has a familiar trend every subsequent season with raising the stakes for the survivors even higher.
According to most of the cast members, we're likely to see the team in a condition we haven't yet witnessed them. Actress Lauren Cohan who portrays the role of Maggie had a similar sentiment in a recent interview with EW.
I don't know if anybody has said this yet but we always joke that the writers write these amazing action sequences from air-conditioned offices," said Cohan. "And I think this season is no exception and definitely rises above. We have the most suffocating beginning to the season that I've experienced yet."
This can mean a number of things for the cast this season. Cohan's character Maggie has recently been recuperating from the death of her last family member.
"And I think what's been really interesting is that you see us all kind of make strides in the direction of civility or civilization and a more regimented society," Cohan continued. "And it's about being really challenged. So we'll see a ton of challenges and we'll see people the audience has been introduced to as very stable reliable characters crumbling, and I think it's going to be pretty scary. Welcome to The Walking Dead."
This statement seems to resonate with what fellow cast member Steven Yeun has said about season 6 in a previous interview.
"You've found them completely broken and shattered and they've all witnessed and experienced terrible things," Yeun tells EW. "And so you get to see them there. We wear it on our face. We wear it on our body. To see where we've evolved to is awesome. So [season] 6 is that, is showing how much has been taken away from us. The end goal is to find some semblance of life that we lost before. I think you're going to see some deeply emotional character story and you're also going to see, as we always do, some crazy-ass s-."
'The Walking Dead' is set to return to AMC on October 11.
