'The Voice’ Season 9 Cast News: 'Disturbia' Singer Rihanna Joins New Season

Rihanna will soon be seen in a new avatar in her career in the music industry. According to latest reports, the "Disturibia" singer has joined 'The Voice,' the hit singing reality competition on NBC, to be one of the main advisors of the show's coaches.

Quoting reports, Christian Today states that Rihanna signed up with NBC and now she will be joining big names in the music industry like Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, and Gwen Stefani on 'The Voice' Season 9.

NBC entertainment chairman, Robert Greenblatt revealed the big news last Thursday during the TCA Press Tour.

Greenbalt told E! Online, "We landed Rihanna to be the key advisor to all the coaches this fall. This is one of music's true supervisors coming on board to influence the lives and careers of the performers."

Now the Barbadian pop star is all set to make an appearance on the popular show during its premiere on Sept. 21.

In fact, Rihanna is not the sole famous artist to take on the role of an advisor on 'The Voice.' During the past three seasons of 'The Voice,' big names like Taylor Swift, Chris Martin from Coldplay, and Nate Ruess of Fun, have also served as mentors to the talented contestants representing the coaches.

In the meantime, as expected, Levine and Shelton will be back on 'The Voice,' as they have been around since the first season of the show, which debuted in 2011.

The producers of the show confirmed that Pharrell Williams will also return and it will be his third season on the show. Williams first joined in Season 7 along with Stefani, who took a break from the show on Season 8, while Christina Aguilera took over.

Aguilera won't appear in this year's competition, but plans to return for Season 10, a source told E! News. Currently, Aguilera is focusing on motherhood and her new music.
