In 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7, fans will see Damon (Ian Somerhalder) treading a dark path since his girlfriend Elena (Nina Dobrev) is not a part of his life anymore.

A report in IB Times says that in Season 6 of The CW vampire television drama, fans saw Kai (Chris Wood) casting a sleeping spell on Elena, and keeping her bound to her best friend Bonnie. In other words, Elena will not be able to wake up as long as Bonnie is alive.

Earlier, Damon would go to any length to bring back his girlfriend, but this time he will not kill Bonnie in order to get back Elena. This is primarily because in 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 fans saw the vampire and the witch coming very close during their time they spent together in Kai's prison world.

Such unquestionable chemistry during their time in Kai's prison also made several fans of the show to speculate about the possibilities of Damon and Bonnie getting romantic. Since Elena is not actively present now, the possibilities are high that they may see Bonnie and Damon getting closer.

Earlier, actress Kat Graham, who portrays the character of Bonnie in the series, told E!Online that fans will be seeing more of Bonnie-Damon relationship, as well as how binding Bonnie's life to Elena will affect the couple.

The actress said, "I'm hoping that we see both sides of their relationship and how it can affect them both because it's obviously going to screw with Bonnie and him, but especially Bonnie."

In addition, 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 will be focusing on Lily Salvatore as well as her friends, the heretics. Meanwhile, it is expected that Enzo will be caught in between Lily, who turned him into a vampire, and the Salvatore brothers.

Show executive producer Caroline Dries recently told E!Online, "I'm really looking forward to how Enzo gets put in the middle of Lily's heretic world and the Damon/ Mystic Falls/ Caroline world in Season seven," adding, "He needs to figure out which side he's on and who he's loyal to. There's going to be some major fallout to that."
