The Vampire Diaries' fans who think that Elena going into deep slumber at the end of the sixth season of the supernatural drama television series need to do some re-thinking. According to latest reports, the opening episode of Season 7 is expected to display the deadly aspect of the heretics who succeeded in entering Mystic Falls with Kai's (Chris Wood) help in Season 6 finale.

IB Times reports that speculations are rife that Lily Salvatore (Annie Wersching), mother of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), would be guiding her bloodthirsty family to go berserk, devastating the vampire-friendly Mystic Falls and instilling fear among the residents of the town. Show executive producer Caroline Dries has teased that mother Salvatore would be seen trying new tricks to be in command of her sons.

In an interview with TV Guide, Dries said, "What I love about Lily is that I don't think we ever see her lift a finger on the show. She has a way of being manipulating and calculating and she knows how to push her son's buttons."

The executive producer further teased that the "dirty politics" of Lily Salvatore will make her sons turn against one another. Nevertheless, Damon and Stefan would succeed in catching her tricks and will unite to fight against the heretics and save their town.

Explaining Lily's evil intentions, the executive producer said, "She is a villain in that what she wants opposes what our heroes want, but in her mind all she wants is peace and she would love it if everyone would get along."

Meanwhile, most fans are eager to see how The CW succeeds in continuing with the popular vampire television series in the absence of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dorbev). 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 premieres on October 8th on the CW.
