'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Spoilers: Executive Producer Teases Damon-Bonnie Relationship; New Romance for Bonnie
When 'The Vampire Diaries' returns for Season 7 to The CW this fall, viewers will see Damon (Ian Somerhalder) counting the days before he can reunite with his only and true love Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev).
In 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 finale, fans saw Kai casting a sleeping spell on Elena and relating her life with Bonnie's (Kate Graham) in a manner that Elena will not wake up till Bonnie is alive.
According to IB Times, this suggests that Damon will require waiting for about 60 years before he can reunite with Elena. However, the long wait will not be a very hard task for Damon, as viewers saw in waiting for nearly 145 years in the first season of the supernatural television drama series. Nevertheless, Damon will again become the reckless vampire he was in the first season, as Elena isn't around to be his guiding force.
This time, instead of Elena, Bonnie will take up the responsibility to ensure that Damon doesn't cross his limits.
In an interview with TV Line, 'The Vampire Diaries' executive producer Julie Plec shared some details regarding the show's upcoming season. She said, "Bonnie has sort of taken it upon herself to be the uninvited chaperone, which is funny because she and Damon have so much unspoken between them - the guilt, the resentments, the gratitude, there's a list of things they're dealing with."
The show runner added, "Watching them air it out together is actually really nice. We'll continue to watch their friendship build, because they really do owe each other a lot. They're going to go through this whole thing together, which is a fun dynamic we're exploring."
Plec also discussed about a new love interest for Bonnie, who previously had a relationship with Elena's younger brother Jeremy. Nevertheless, things did not work out between the two, as Bonnie was languishing in Kai's prison world, while Jeremy left town to become a vampire hunter.
Plec, however, refused to reveal who would be Bonnie's new love interest, but indicate that viewers will certainly be surprised by the choice. She said, "It comes strangely out of nowhere, but it will make a lot of sense. That's my enigmatic tease."
'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 will premiere on The CW in October.
