‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Damon Unlikely to be Bonnie’s New Love Interest

Fans can expect another twist in 'The Vampire Diaries' when the show returns for its seventh season on The CW this fall. While Elena (Nina Dobrev) is already out of the long-running vampire series, it appears that the Salvatore brothers may be paired off with the other female cast members of the show. Nevertheless, recently TV Line revealed that Bonnie (Kat Graham) will not be meeting directly with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). In other words, she will be having another love interest.

According to a report in IB Times, in a recent interview with TV Line, 'The Vampire Diaries' executive producer Caroline Dries said, "I'm feeling like Damon is still madly in love with Elena," adding, "Bonnie's going to maybe have her own love interest this year and it's not going to be Damon."

The executive producer said that Bonnie and Damon will keep developing their friendship all the way through 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 and the writers believe that the two work well as just friends. Driers said, "Don't mess with a good thing, that's how we think of it."

Now the question remains that if not Damon, who would Bonnie be dating. Now that Tyler (Michael Tevino) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) are gone and Stefan (Paul Wesley) also taken, her options are limited - Alaric (Matt Davis) or Matt (Zach Roerig). In fact, they are her only options in case she dates a man. However, Bonnie may also like women!

Meanwhile, Graham has already clarified that she would be supporting a romantic relation between Damon and Bonnie. At the same time, she also disclosed that she would also be fine if Bonnie's next love interest happens to be a female. Graham revealed, "I've pitched female witches," adding, "I've pitched that. I've pitched Bonnie having some discoveries, sexually, about herself. I've pitched everything. I don't know. We'll see what happens."

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Graham has discussed about Bonnie's possible bisexuality. In May, Graham revealed that she would like to show another side of her character. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress said, "I'm all about exploring characters' sexuality and stuff like that." She added, "And I'm hoping that Bonnie, through her new empowerment, will start to discover another side of her as well, maybe something that hasn't really been a focus on the show."

Although the show runners will add a new lesbian couple to the show in the fall, it is almost certain that neither Nora nor Mary Louise will be Bonnie's love interests. At the San Diego Comic-Con 'The Vampire Diaries' panel, it was disclosed that they were part of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 villains, known as the heretics. According to executive producer Julie Plec, "They're nasty, nasty, nasty girls, but they're going to be good." Hence, it is likely that Bonnie will be looking for love elsewhere.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 will premiere at 8.00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 8:00 p.m. EDT on the CW.
