"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 22 is entitled "Gods & Monsters." According to Spoilers Guide, Damon is set to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to keep his close friends safe from harm. As per the publication, this event is bound to happen after Enzo's plan makes a u-turn. It is revealed that the character tries to keep Bonnie preoccupied by bringing her back to their cabin, but again, it fails.

The season finale will also see Stefan tell Caroline that they may need the hand from an unlikely source, which is revealed as the latter and Alaric's twin daughters. Overall, episode 22 is set to see Damon, Enzo, and Caroline believe that they are running out of time and ways, as part of their combined efforts to help Bonnie through the challenges she is currently facing.

Just like what is set to happen in Enzo's plan, Damon's attempt to save Bonnie also took an unexpected turn in "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 21, as per Spoilers Guide. Entitled "Requiem for a Dream," the episode saw that the aftermath of Damon's deeds left everyone with no choice but to work hand in hand in order to help the latter.

In addition, the previous episode saw a threat for Caroline and this prompted Stefan to make a fast decision that forces them to see the fallout from their dynamics.
