"The Vampire Diaries" returns this week with season 7 episode 21, "Requiem for a Dream," and it follows the gang as they try to come to Bonnie's rescue.

In the 20^th episode, which aired last week, Damon ran the risk of transferring the last life of Rayna to Bonnie. The move may have saved her, but it also had its own share of dire consequences. Rayna's life was transferred to Bonnie, but so was Rayna's killer instinct. As a result, Bonnie transformed into the new vampire huntress.

This week, the penultimate episode of the season follows the vampires of Mystic Falls as they work hand in hand in trying to save their friend Bonnie while putting up with the challenge of her being a vampire huntress. Bonnie's transformation is definitely a curse for her closest friends, who unfortunately happen to be vampires.

In the promo for episode 21, Damon and Enzo are deeply concerned about Bonnie waking up and slaying them all. It appears that Caroline will be her first target, as she shows up at her house and also threatens to kill her twins.

The official trailer for the episode also shows Bonnie trying to kill Damon by pinning a metal spike on his chest, but Damon is able to resist and seeks her forgiveness.

Meanwhile, Matt decides to deal with the situation in order to save his friends. Since he is currently in human status, there is a huge possibility that he is the only one who can bring Bonnie to her senses.

"Requiem for a Dream" airs on May 6, 8:00 P.M. on The CW.
