Damon is rumored to die in "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 16. Also, rumors revealed that the episode is set to show the characters' fate in the future.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 16 is entitled "Days of Future Past." According to Ecumenical News, rumors said that Damon is set to die, after Stefan transfers the mark on him.

In the previous episodes, it was seen that Stefan had finally known how to take down Rayna; however, the former did not push his plan when Bonnie told him that Rayna is living her last life. As per the publication, Stefan learned that everyone who has the mark will also die when the latter dies.

Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon's role in the series, has revealed what fans could expect from the upcoming episode. In his interview with TV Guide, he said that "Days of Future Past" had been really about telling the story of the whole group of individuals and how they were all intersecting. He also mentioned that they had lost some "very wonderful" and "very beautiful" characters in the episode.

Somerhalder did not name specific characters who were going to die in the series' future episodes. However, in his interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor talked about a car explosion in the story, saying that the car had blown up and his character had been 200 feet away and he could still felt the heat and the percussion from the explosion.

In addition, the episode will also show fans how Damon's rumored death is going to impact the lives of the other characters in the series.

Directed by Somerhalder himself, episode 16 will see Damon offer to have Stefan's scar transferred to him, only to learn that unforeseen consequences await when he does this. The episode will also show Valerie reason with Damon, since time is running out and Rayna is nearing on Stefan.
