‘The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Characters Written From Series, Damon and Elena Get Together

When 'The Vampire Diaries' returns after a brief winter hiatus with the Season 6 episode 11 titled "Woke Up With a Monster" on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 8 pm ET on The CW, fans will probably see Damon and Elena getting back together.

A recent report in Latin Post reminds us that during the recent 2015 Winter TCA press tour, Ian Somerhalder, who portrays the character of Damon Salvatore in this supernatural television drama series, indicated that Elena and Damon will have a happy ending -- something, according to him, the couple "deserves." reports HollywoodLife.

Talking to the HollywoodLife, 'The Vampire Diaries' star revealed, "The three or four [or] five months that were skipped over, the honeymoon phase, you don't typically get to see Damon in a time and space where he's truly happy," said Somerhalder at the TCA conference held at the Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena on Jan. 11. "It's great to see anyone happy at any time. They've been through a lot. Love trumps all. So when you see, you want it to win."

Julie Plec, the executive producer of the show, also shared that in Season 6 episode 14, viewers will bid adieu to Jeremy (Steven McQueen), who portrays the character of Elena's little brother and Bonnie's boyfriend. She told E! News, "We're saying goodbye to Steven McQueen."

The, however, that does not mean that the show creators will kill Jeremy Gilbert in 'Vampire Diaries.'

Explaining the issue, Plec said, "I wouldn't dare kill Jeremy. I think that would be all forms of cruelty," adding, "But I do think that he's a man now, he's not a little kid anymore and he's got to live his life. It's time for him to get started doing that."

Meanwhile, showrunner Caroline Dries revealed that they have decided to take out Jeremy from the show with a view to let the characters to grow.

Talking to E! News, Dries said, "As we continue to grow, and add new characters and grow up our characters, every year we assess where our characters are and we decide is it time for them to grow up and move on, is it time for them to die. Where are they going? What can their departure do to other characters? What can their departure do for their own character?"

Plec, meanwhile, teased that more characters of 'The Vampire Diaries' are likely to leave the series, which was been renewed for Season 7 recently.
