'The Strain' Season 2 Release Date: FX Slates New Series Episodes for July
FX has set the second season of its vampire drama series, The Strain, to premiere on July 12th at 10:00 pm. The show is based on The Strain Trilogy, the bestselling novel series by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.
The series tells the tale of Dr. Goodweather, who is the head of the Centers for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City.
He and his team are asked to look in to a mysterious viral outbreak that shares features with an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.
As the virus continues to spread, Goodweather, his team and a group of New Yorkers fight for the fate of the human race. As Season 2 begins, the transformation of the city has begun.
New York City is being over taken by the epidemic and there appears to be no chance of rescue, so the citizens of the city must fight for their lives, or die.
Season one of the intriguing epidemic series was the most watched new scripted series among all of the basic cable and paid for cable television networks in Adults between the ages of 18 and 49, as reported by Nielsen and FX.
The Strain comes from Carlton Cuse who is the show's executive producer, writer and showrunner.
The show is co created, co executive produced and co written by del Toro and Hogan. Gary Ungar, J. Miles Dale, Bradley Thompson, David Weddle and Regina Corrado executive produce the show and The Strain is produced by FX Productions.
