'The Revenant' Movie Debuts To Limited Locations, Wide Release Date Coming

"The Revenant" was only available on four cinemas during Christmas. A lot of people hoping to watch the movie on that day were disappointed of the limited release.

The movie was advertised to come out on the 25th of December but what they didn't tell the people is that it would only be on four theaters (The Arclight Hollywood and Landmark Pico theaters in Los Angeles, and the Regal Union Square and AMC Lincoln Square theaters in New York City) and that the wide release will be on the 8th of January.

But even though the release was limited, you can bet that a lot of people still got to see the movie world-wide because according to International Business Times, the movie was illegally downloaded more than 300,000 times. It still made an impact on the box office though. According to Indie Wire, the movie was able to make $172,000 on Christmas Day, which is approximately $43,000 per theater.

Some disappointments also came from people who were able to watch the movie in the said cinemas. The reason for those are the blood that the movie contains and the the 2-hour length of the whole film. It was also reported that some walked out of the cinemas because of the blood, which made a statement that it should not have been released on Christmas Day.

Nevertheless, reports say that Leonardo DiCaprio's performance in the movie was great and worthy of another Oscar nomination. Let's hope that he wins it this time!
