'The Originals' Season 2 Spoilers, Release Date: Episode 2 Hits Airs on January 26
The drama continues as season two of CW's "The Originals" returned from its winter break for the second half of its second installment.
The show's executive producer Michael Narducci suggested to The Hollywood Reporter that the internal conflict within the Mikaelson family would be a centerpiece as "the Originals" resumes.
"We saw in the mid-season finale how the vampire family neutralized Esther," Narducci said, pointing to how the Mikaelson matriarch was potentially turned into a vampire.
Klaus (played by Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) gave their mother a thirst for blood by coyly slipping supernatural blood into her wine. And as reported by the International Business Times, episode 10 titled "Gonna Set Your Flag on Fire," will show Esther's venture into a stirring decision.
While Narducci has let it be known that drama will thicken in the second half of season two, another one of the show's executive producers, Julie Plec, hinted at a lack of a romantic twist, at least when it comes to Klaus.
"Klaus is someone who believes that love will make him weak, and he is terrified of it, yet he's opened his heart to this daughter that's filling his heart in a way he could never thought it could be filled," Plec revealed to TVLine in an interview.
"Given his hesitation about embarking on too many feelings, I think he's full up at the moment. There isn't necessarily a romance he's going to be interested in exploring in quite some time," she added.
On a side note, CW's "Vampire Diaries" spin-off had its backdoor pilot debut in April 25, 2013.
It was nominated for Favorite New TV Drama in the 2014 People's Choice Awards, which saw Morgan win Favorite Actor in a New Series.
"The Originals" season two returned Monday, January 19 at 8 pm EST. On that note, Episode 2 of Season 2 airs on January 26.
