'The Night Shift' Season 3 Premiere Date Scheduled For June 1; Some Cast Members Leave Series?

Following the announcement that "The Night Shift" will return for season 3 on June 1, fans are eager to know how the series is going to pick up after it ended with both heartwarming romances and heartbreaking tragedies in the previous season.

Dubbed as the No. 1 series in the summer of 2014, the American medical drama is about a team of doctors and nurses working at the emergency room of San Antonio Memorial.

Starring Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Robert Bailey, Jr., JR Lemon, Tanaya Beatty and Scott Wolf, season 3 of the NBC series is set to feature its characters returning in trenches. There are also rumors that not all of them will stick around the San Antonio Memorial in the upcoming season, as one of them will leave the series following the premiere episode.

Actress Jennifer Beals is joining the cast of season 3 as Dr. Syd Jennings. She will appear in the premiere episode and will be working with Dr. Drew Alister. In the series, they will be deployed to Afghanistan for six months and will struggle with life overseas.

Aside from Beals, 28-year-old actress AnnaLynne McCord is also joining the cast for a recurring role. She will play Jessica Sanders, a pharmaceutical representative who will be the love interest of one of the doctors in San Antonio. Her first appearance will be in the fifth episode of season 3.

The third episode of the upcoming season will also star Lindsey Morgan as a high-strung bride named Kryztal, who will meet an unfortunate accident on the day of her wedding.

Directed by Timothy Busfield, "The Night Shift" will have 23 episodes and will premiere on June 1.
