'The Mist' News Update: Spike TV Approves Stephen King's Series
Spike TV approves the new adaptation of Stephen King's "The Mist." The movie was first adapted as a pilot but the network was impressed with the outcome.
Deadline reported that the network's original series EVP Sharon Levy that "From the brilliant mind of Stephen King and the incredible production team at TWC-Dimension TV, "The Mist" will take audiences on a thrilling ride through a small town grappling with a mysterious and shocking horror," via Flickering Myth.
"[Writer and executive producer Christian Torpe] and the entire team at TWC-Dimension TV have crafted the framework for a compelling and distinctive series that will resonate with Spike's expanding audience," She added.
Moreover, Co-Chairman of The Weinstein Company and Dimension Bob Weinstein added that the team is eager to adapt Stephen King's masterpiece as the signature show for the station. Weinsten also produced the 2007 movie adaptation along with director Frank Darabont.
Dimension, who produced and distributed the movie and the upcoming show also handled another thrilling film, 1408. Meanwhile, Crossmap wrote that "The Mist" was originally created and first published in 1980 and is a mysterious mist that engulfed an entire town without the knowledge that there are deadly creatures ready to destroy the people and the town.
So, what could the viewers expect of a full television series adaptation? Let us cross our fingers that it would be a quality show just like King's. While details about the cast are still unknown, The Hollywood Reporter stated that "The Mist" is slated to a summer 2017 debut.
