Fans are excited to know if Mindy and Danny will get back together in the upcoming season of "The Mindy Project" as it airs again in October.

It can be recalled that the season 4 finale saw the huge comeback of Danny when he and Mindy got stuck in an elevator for hours. Apparently, the two still had lingering feelings for each other so it did not come as a surprise for fans when they decided to sleep together. In episode 26 titled "Homewrecker," Danny was shown walking Mindy home and telling her "I love you," to which Mindy responded "I love you" too.

According to "The Mindy Project" showrunner Matt Warburton, season 5 is going to pick up where the season 4 finale left off, where Mindy was torn between getting back with Danny or giving Jody another chance. This also comes with another dilemma, as Mindy has yet to find out that Danny is already engaged.

The showrunner teased that fans of the series will be happy about the turn of events after Mindy makes her decision. According to Warburton, some may be disappointed with the direction they are heading but he is confident that majority will be satisfied with how everything moves forward.

Fans speculate that the events in the season 4 finale indicate a possible reunion between Danny and Mindy. However, Warburton said that things are not as easy as they seem.

"We still understand that these characters do love each other on some level, but it's just not working for any number of reasons and I think it was important to remind people that that's still true, but those reasons are still there, too," he said.
