'The Maze Runner 3' Release Date, News: Next Year Premiere Not Possible Due To O'Brien's Condition?

"The Maze Runner 3" may not make it to its early 2018 premiere date due to the unknown condition of its lead actor, Dylan O'Brien.

The film hit a snag when O'Brien got involved in an accident on the set of "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure," and rumors are flying around that the actor has not yet fully recovered due to the severity of his injuries. Based on reports, the actor is not yet ready to shoot arduous scenes as this may only exacerbate his condition.

The third installment of "The Maze Runner" was originally set for release early next year, but it was moved to early 2018 to give the actor more time to recuperate. However, it appears that the new 2018 premiere date might be pushed back anew.

Earlier this year, reports about O'Brien's accident came out. As reported, the actor sustained some concussions, facial fracture and lacerations after being dragged under a vehicle while shooting.

In March, film director Wes Ball updated fans via Twitter regarding O'Brien's condition.

"Well, it's been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I've been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But ultimately, I find myself left with just a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie," wrote the director.

In a statement, Twentieth Century Fox recently described the actor's condition and the status of the upcoming film.

"The resumption of principal photography on 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' has been further delayed to allow Dylan O'Brien to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible," said Fox.
