Quentin and Julia pursued the Beast in "The Magicians" season 1 finale. Also, the former thought about becoming the chosen one in the show's final episode.

"The Magicians" season 1 episode 13 is entitled "Have You Brought Me Little Cakes." As per Spoilers Guide, the season finale saw Quentin and Julia go to Fillory and attempt to be at par with the team, who is seen as more than seven decades advanced than them in plight of their search for the Beast.

The duo also learned Martin Chatwin, whom they vowed to help, had been following them. Previously, they equipped a blade for them to take down the Beast and see the Watcherwoman face to face. The Watcherwoman was a future Jane Chatwin, who took them to where they wanted to.

Julia and Quentin were also reabsorbed by the team and collected the knife while Eliot tied a know with a local girl, with him named a future High King. The two also met Ember, who endowed them with power and saw Julia's memories. It was seen that Julia's friends unintentionally summoned Reynard the Fox, who killed her friends and raped her.

Christopher Plover revealed that the beast was Chatwin when the team was rescuing Victoria. Then, Josh and Victoria fled, leaving the rest to go to the root of Fillory's magic. Julia took the knife from Alice while the others were injured. Since Penny's hands were cut, Julia held the knife to the Beast's throat.

According to TV Line, Quentin wanted to be the chosen one to defeat Chatwin; however, his heart told him that it should be Alice. In the episode, he told the latter that she was a better magician and a better person, adding that part of him kept screaming that it as her.
