‘The Little Prince' Movie Release Date News: New Trailer, Voice Actors, Plot Spoilers [VIDEO]
'The Little Prince' is one of the most beloved novels of all time, and on Monday, a French version of the trailer for the big screen debut of the book was released on YouTube.
The trailer begins with text that reads, "Rediscover a timeless story like you've never seen it before."
The trailer is narrated by an old man telling a story about how he "flew almost everywhere in the world, until something miraculous happened." After that, the screen goes to show some scenes and portraits from the book, while Lily Allen's cover of "Somewhere Only We Know" is playing in the background.
The film was directed by Mark Osborne, who's known for his work on popular animated films like 'Kung Fu Panda'.
Even though the trailer is in French, a star-studded English language cast including James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Jeff Bridges, and 'Interstellar' star Mackenzie Foy, will lend their voices to the production.
The animation uses a Pixar-like CGI style in the "real world" and a stop-motion aesthetic when the old man is narrating his story, but some elements of the story appear like it will also be woven into the new narrative.
'Le Petit Prince' will debut on Oct. 7, 2015 in France. However, Paramount, its U.S. distributor, has yet to announce the film's release date in the United States.
Written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and published in 1943, it has sold over 140 million copies around the world and has been translated to over 100 different languages.
It is a story about an aviator reminiscing the day when his plane was forced down in the Sahara where he encountered a most extraordinary small-person.
"And thus begins the remarkable story of the Little Prince, whose strange history he learned, bit by bit, in the days that followed."
