Fans of the 'Legend of Korra' across the globe can now take delight as the series co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have said that they plant to explore the lesbian relationship between Korra and Asami Sato through a comic book series comprising three installments.

A report in IB Times states that since Nickelodeon took off the animation series from the network's program list, fans have been eagerly waiting for Netflix to take up the show.

Even as the fans at first made an online petition requesting online media platform to pick up the Avatar franchise, some of them asked for a spin-off series revolving around the couple.

In addition, speculations are rife that Konietzko and DiMartino are correctly focusing on individual works and followers of the series now cannot look forward to a new season or spin-off.

Nevertheless, the creators revealed to their fans that they have not split. Instead, they are working on a comic book trilogy on the relationship between Korra and Asami along with Dark House comics.

IGN quoted DiMartino as saying, "We didn't break up, but we are working on different things. We're definitely going to focus on Korra and Asami's relationship."

The creators also shared their excitement regarding the positive response received by them from fans on their concept of lesbian couple. Konietzko remarked, "You pick a certain pairing, some people are going to be happy, and some people are going to be unhappy... We were just making sure we liked it, and in this case we did."

Speaking In a similar vein, DiMartino added, "It's been so great to see how much it connected with everyone. We knew people would hopefully enjoy it, but you never know... It's touched people on an emotional level that I didn't expect."

Meanwhile, both Nickelodeon and Netflix are yet to make an official announcement on whether or not they will be considering 'The Legend of Korra' spin-off comic series for an animation show.
