'The Last of Us 2' PS4 Release Date News: Possible Announcement At PlayStation Experience (PSX) Event 2016
Fans of "The Last of Us" might know the release date of "The Last of Us 2" soon, as an industry insider hinted that the announcement could be made at the upcoming PlayStation Experience event.
Some reports claim that the PSX event will feature a trailer for the new game. Due to lack of confirmation, however, fans will have to wait until then to see if the game is indeed included on the roster.
Previously, other sources revealed that the game would not arrive until 2021. This is because while "The Last of Us 2" is one of the most anticipated video games today, the developer of the game has remained quiet for years about the status of its development and its release date.
Rumors that the game will not arrive soon started when actor Nolan North, the voice behind Nathan Drake on the Uncharted series, revealed that Naughty Dog has not even started brainstorming for the "Last of Us" sequel.
Sony, however, has contradicted North's statement.
"'The Last of Us 2' is not, in any form under development. For now, the last one. I know they're doing 'The Last of Us 2, but my character in 'The Last of Us' had an untimely demise," said Sony in a statement.
In a separate statement, Naughty Dog hinted that they are revisiting "The Last of Us 2" prototype for consideration. Actress Ashley Johnson, who also lent her voice to Ellie in the first video game, recently expressed her desire to reprise her role in the sequel.
Meanwhile, fans who hope that "The Last of Us 2" will be PS4's last exclusive game for the year may wait for the announcement at the PSX event, which opens at 10:00 A.M. on December 3.
