'The Jungle Book' Release Date, News, Latest Trailer Recap: Jon Favreau’s Film Trailer Spills Mowgli’s Origin
In line with Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's classic tale "The Jungle Book," a new trailer has been released and it features Mowgli's origins.
The clip opened with Lupita Nyong'o, who plays mother wolf Raksha in Favreau's "The Jungle Book." The actress revealed that the upcoming film was a grand reimagining of the classic tale, adding her excitement for fans to see the "epic adventure" on the big screen in a brand new way.
The actual trailer sees Mowgli in the dense forest, figuring out who else is with him. Then, Scarlet Johansson's Kaa, the snake, appeared to Mowgli and showed him where he came from. Kaa revealed than men destroyed the forest, prompting Shere Khan to destroy man. Mowgli was taken care of the panther Bagheera and the bear Baloo.
Revealed that wanted Mowgli dead while Bagheera and Baloo went along with the latter. Succeeding scenes featured the beauty and danger of the forest and the challenges Mowgli has to face, along with a one on one fight between Shere Khan and Baloo. That last scene is assumed to raise worry among viewers, especially children, since the combat between the fearless tiger and the friendly bear might be disadvantageous for the latter.
According to Screen Crush, Johansson's "distinctive" voice is perfect for Kaa, who is typically portrayed as male. As per the publication, the "Avengers" actress managed to deliver the lines of the "hypnotic snake," who gives Mowglie a feeling of ease as she tells his origins in the trailer.
As per Telegraph UK, the new trailer of Favreau's "The Jungle Book" serves as the family-friendly version of "The Revenant," as Mowgli had to utilize his wits in the deep jungle. This covers getting his food, climbing the rocks, and cruising a mudslide with a herd of buffalo.
Aside from Nyon'o and Johansson, the film also stars Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Garry Shandling, Giancarlo Esposito, Ben Kingsley, and Neel Sethi as Mowglie.
Favreau's "The Jungle Book" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Apr. 15, 2016.
