'The Jinx' News: Robert Durst Booked on Weapons Charges

New evidence about 71-year-old Robert Durst surfaced over the weekend, sending the man into custody on weapons charges on Monday, March 16.

The two new weapons charges were stated in the L.A. Times, "convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance. The substance was a small amount of marijuana."

Back in 2000, Durst was arrested on suspicion of killing his friend Susan Berman. This murder investigation as well as two others Durst was involved in was being documented for the HBO show, "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst."

Durst, who was in New Orleans at the time, was sent to the New Orleans court on March 16 to officially wave his objection to a California extradition. Digital Spy said, "The extradition was temporarily held up today as the New Orleans district attorney mulled over filing local charges against Durst unrelated to the outstanding murder case."

The finale of "The Jinx" was on Sunday. Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki told US television audiences that the finale and Durst's arrest were completely accidental and that the arrest was not made to coincide with the show's finale.

"The Jinx" documented to life and supposed crimes of real-estate heir Robert Durst who was a prime suspect in three deaths.

The first investigation was for Durst's wife, Kathleen, who had disappeared in 1982. Her body has never been found. His friend Susan Berman was found in her Los Angeles home death with a bullet to the head. Both cases were left unsolved.

Digital Spy said, "In 2003, he was acquitted in the killing of his neighbor Morris Black on the grounds of self-defense."

The show had ultimately presented new evidence against Durst, which is another reason why police were able to make an arrest on Monday.
