'The Good Wife' Spinoff News: Spinoff Will Reveal What Happened To Alicia After The Notorious Slap?
"The Good Wife" ended with Alicia being slapped by Diane for exposing the infidelity of her husband in court, but that does not mean that fans have seen the last of her.
According to reports, Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo are top-billing the anticipated spinoff anchored on Alicia's coworkers in the law firm. In the finale, Alicia betrayed Diane after instructing Lucca to target Diane's married life in cross examination of Kurt. The final scene showed Dianne slapping Alicia.
To be directed by Phil Alden Robinson of "Field of Dreams" and written by Robert and Michelle King, the spinoff will show what happened after the events in "The Good Wife" finale. It will pick up one year after the controversial slap, when Alicia is no longer employed in the law firm. Since her good friend Lucca is still under Diane, there is a huge change that Alicia will still make cameos in the spinoff.
"It's difficult only because you don't want to taint something that felt complete to us," said Robert King.
"One of those things we're seeing if it works is seeing if Julianna can guest on the show. It's not going to be going in the past, it will be continuing in the future. It is its own story and you want it to be its own story, so that is difficult and that's one of the things we're trying to break," he added.
"The Good Wife" spinoff will air solely on All Access, CBS' sole streaming service. It is expected to see the return of familiar characters other than Alicia.
