'The Good Wife' Season 7 Spoilers: Finale Announced During Super Bowl 2016; Possibility For Spin-off?

Fans of the acclaimed series "The Good Wife" might shower themselves with tears as the final season approaches. Yes, the television show will finally come to an end after the season 7, as announced during Super Bowl 2016.

The announcement was defined as historic by Entertainment Weekly, due to the fact the it was the first time that Super Bowl attendees have witnessed an advertisement that unveils a TV show ending.

CBS shocking declaration about the 9-episode Emmy-winning legal drama series was then followed by a press conference. 

"It's never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television," said CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller and CBS Television Studios head David Stapf.

The showrunners also commended the whole production team for their hard work of making sure that the seven long episodes were done seamlessly. They also thanked lead star Julianna Margulies, whom they described as an "impeccable" actress.

On the other hand, executive producers and co-creators Robert and Michelle King wrote that the TV series had been the "creative experience of a lifetime," giving them the opportunity to work with different talented individuals.

The duo also took to Twitter to air their feelings towards the bittersweet moment despite the limited number of characters its messages allows. "Here's a spoiler: the last episode will be called 'End'" as they teased their followers.

So what could we expect for the remaining episodes? TV Guide dropped some information like Alicia's future with Peter, no Will Gardner flashbacks, Kalinda won't be back even via green screen, to mention a few. There is also a possibility for a spin-off but there are no concrete plans as of this moment.

"The Good Wife" season 7 finale will air Sunday, May 8.
