'The Good Fight' Season 1 Air Date: New Season Picks Up A Year After 'The Good Wife' Season Finale

CBS revealed this week the title of "The Good Wife" spinoff is going to be "The Good Fight."

The announcement was made on the same day that the production kicked off in New York.

"The Good Wife" will stream exclusively on CBS All Access following the debut of its premiere episode on the Eye's broadcast network. According to reports, the series will pick up about a year following the events in "The Good Wife" finale.

It can be recalled that in the series finale, a huge financial scam ruined the reputation of young lawyer Maia and wiped out all the savings of her mentor, Diane Lockhart. As a result, both of them were compelled to leave Lockhart & Lee and join a prominent law firm in Chicago where Lucca Quinn worked.

For the spinoff, Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will reprise their roles as Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn. Joining them in the cast are Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Sarah Steele, Paul Guilfoyle, Bernadette Peters and Erica Tazel. Robert and Michelle King, both creators of "The Good Wife" original series, will serve as the executive producers.

"The Good Fight" is the first original scripted series on CBS All Access. It was initially slated for a May premiere, but had to be postponed following delays in its production. The network reportedly prioritized the production of another new series, "Star Trek: Discovery," which is also set to premiere on the network soon.

"The Good Fight" is scheduled to premiere sometime in February 2017.
