'The Flash' Spoilers, Cast News: Actor Grant Gustin Says Series is 'Diving Deep Into Time Travel'

CW's "The Flash" has been having an amazingly successful season, bringing new fans into the DC franchise and appeasing longtime fans with references to the original comics.

It has recently been confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the show will be delving into the idea of time travel more toward the end of the first season.

Fans of the comics will recognize this to be a big attributing factor in the comics.

"We are diving deep into the time-travel element and it is going to be wild," Grant Gustin, the actor who plays The Flash commented.

Tim Cavanagh (Dr. Wells) chimed in with, "It's ultimately why I signed on to this job. Not to play a scientist, but to play a time-traveling bandit. In comic books, when you start talking about time travel - if anybody has followed The Flash, then they know Reverse-Flash and The Flash are not just doing this right now in the present day. They have a long history and there's nothing that we're not going to pursue when we try to tell the story. We're trying to tell all of it."

It would seem viewers will be graced with some time-traveling treks with the two super speedsters in the seasons to come. Hopefully the show doesn't get too bogged down with the scientific backing behind it seeing as that could drop the series' continuity.

Grant concluded with, "I think it would be fun if it totally changed the show for season two."

There would be no doubt that it could be fun, but it would all depend on the show's approach to it.

The pieces are in place, as they've already introduced the Reverse Flash in a big way. The question lies in just how close are the producers intending to stay to the comics' original plot.
