The CW has released the official synopsis for the second episode of "The Flash" season 3 titled "Paradox," which is a reference to "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox."

"The Flashpoint Paradox" is an animated feature film that has adapted the comic book miniseries adapted by "The Flash" season 3. In the comics, the "Flashpoint" miniseries consisted of five issues and saw Barry Allen travel back in time to rescue his mother from being killed by the Reverse-Flash. His success reverberated through the entire DC Universe as it turned it into a vicious world on the brink of global war.

According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, however, the stakes in episode 2 of "The Flash" season 3 are centered on Barry and not the world.

"All of the stuff is not at our disposal, which is fine with us, because we really wanted to do something personal to Barry. The stakes in the comic book in 'Flashpoint' were global and the stakes in this episode are very much just about Barry, his existence and the people that he loves," he said.

The episode is also where Iris-the special person in Barry's life-comes in.

Barry realizes the effects from "Flashpoint" are much greater than he thought. Meanwhile, Barry meets new co-worker Julian Albert and is surprised by Julian's immediate disdain for Barry.

"The Flash" season 3 premieres on Oct. 4, 8:00 p.m. on The CW. Directed by Ralph Hemecker, episode 2, titled "Paradox," airs on Oct. 11.
