'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Return of the 'Original' Flash in Season 2 Confirmed

'The Flash' Season 2 will be debuting the superhero from an alternate universe when the new episodes air. Teddy Sears has been announced to play Jay Garrick who was the original Flash who first appeared in comics in 1940.

The Flash was originally an All American Comics hero whose alter-ego Jay Garrick was transformed into a speedy bullet by accidentally inhaling "hard water vapors" at a smoke break.

He was featured in the first issue of the Flash Comics series and starred in All-Flash between 1941 to 1947.

When All American Comics, Detective Comics, and National Comics merged, All-Flash was shelved. Flash Comics followed in 1949, as did The Flash in 1951.

1956 saw a revamp of The Flash in the long-running series The Flash. His new incarnation was Barry Allen, a forensic detective.
Jay Garrick, the original Flash, did a cameo as a comic book character in Barry Allen's world.

Then DC brought Jay Garrick back in the classic comic book issue titled "The Flash of Two Worlds", in which he comes from "Earth Two".

This manoeuvre was the beginning of DC's never-ending chain of alternate universes, and "Earth Two" was established as where the 1940s incarnations of characters that were redeveloped in the 1950s and 60s came from.

Not much has been revealed about the new incarnation of The Flash, but hints have been given that Garrick is a mysterious figure who warns the Flash of danger that only the superhero is able to deal with.

He will probably come from one f the alternate dimensions that were hinted at in the finale of season 1.
