'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers, Plot News: Romance Between Barry and Iris Unlikely Anytime Soon
"The Flash' fans are unlikely to see Barry and Iris in a romantic relationship, not at least in the upcoming Season 2 of the show this fall. In a recent interview with TV Line, actor Grant Gustin, who plays the role of Scarlet Speedster in the show, disclosed, "its too soon" keeping in view all the life-changing events that took place as well as the deaths took place in Season 1.
According to a report in Christian Today, fans will possibly see Iris in mourning when the show returns for Season 2. Gustin said, "Barry wants to be there for Iris as her best friend right now." The actor added that "it's too soon for everybody. Some tragic events just took place!"
In another interview with the entertainment publication, Candice Patton, who portrays Iris, said that the tragedy provides her character with an opportunity to be more "independent and resourceful." Patton further said that Iris is possibly seen hanging out in S.T.A.R. Labs regularly as she works to "get her career off the ground at Picture News."
The actress admitted, "So I, personally, am really hoping to see Iris have more agency and more abilities to help the team and 'The Flash' and the city that she loves so much."
She, however, did not say anything regarding how Eddie's death will alter things between her and Barry.
In the meantime, as fans will see multiverses and alternate timelines being introduced in the upcoming season of 'The Flash,' it seems sensible that more characters will be introduced in the new season. Referring to this, executive producer Geoff Johns divulged that "there are a lot of new characters coming in" and "not just the ones that have been leaked online."
Johns further said that the new cast members "will challenge relationships in good and bad ways." One of these new characters will be the new partner of Joe. Fans have seen that Joe also lost a partner on the night the wormhole prepared to gulp Central City. However, someone will be taking that place in 'The Flash' Season 2.
Hence, The CW is looking for an actress who will portray the role of Joe's troubled friend named Olivia. According to reports, the new partner may also serve as a love interest for Joe. If this really happens, the father and daughter will be finding new love and it will happen owing to Eddie's sacrifice.
'The Flash' Season 2 will air on The CW on Oct. 6.
