'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: New Promo Teases Captain Cold, Atom Smasher and Flash Signal [VIDEO]
The latest teaser for 'The Flash' Season 2 on the CW promises to be "bigger, badder and faster." Fans who have been eagerly waiting for the return of the superhero speedster can now get their first look at what they can expect when the show returns. Although the video clip runs for just 10 seconds, it is enough to tease two new villains who would be featuring in the upcoming season as well as what is described as a 'Flash signal.'
According to IB Times, the promo, which made its way online early this week, after debuting on the CW, previews the return of Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), in addition to the debut of Atom Smasher. Fans were already aware of the fact that that Captain Cold would be back in Season 2. Initially, Captain Cold offered to help move the meta-human prisoners to safety during Barry's (Grant Gustin) battle with Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanaugh), the criminal let down Barry and permitted most of the bad guys the S.T.A.R. Labs team had spent capturing in Season 1 go free. Hence, it can be safely said that Barry and Captain Cold may have some unfinished business.
In the meantime, Atom Smasher will be a new addition to the superhero series. Those familiar with the comic will be able to recognize the character as well as his trademark mask as Albert Rothstein - a man who possesses the ability to maneuver molecular structure, thereby giving him superhuman strength. In Season 1, Rothstein's name came up as someone who was killed in the particle accelerator explosion. Now, it seems that he is not dead. Wrestler Adam Copeland will portray the character of Albert Rothstein in the CW series.
Rothstein will be joined by many new faces on 'The Flash' in Season 2 including, Kid Flash/Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), and a new love interest for Barry, Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten).
Aside from the details mentioned above, the promo also reveals a spotlight with a lightning bolt symbol attached to it - in essence Batman's "bat signal" re-tooled for Barry Allen. Fans will have to wait to know if this how Joe (Jesse Martin) and the Central City Police will contact Barry now.
'The Flash' Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 6.
