'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: New Character Garrick Introduced via Twitter, So Who's Garrick?
Fans of 'The Flash' have been eagerly been waiting for Jay Garrick to arrive on the scene, since they saw his cape coming flying through the open wormhole in The CW show's Season 1 finale. Teddy Sears will portray Garrick's character in the upcoming season.
IB Times reports that Garrick is a speedster who foreshadows Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and is a very highly ancicipated new face in Central City. Fans have already got the first look of the character early this week via the official Twitter page of 'The Flash.'
In fact, 'The Flash' introduced Garrick on Twitter alongside a photo comparison that is certain to make comic book fans go a little crazy. On one side, the tweet displays the cover of the DC comic "The Flash" #123 - "The Flash of Two Worlds," featuring both the Flash and Garrick. On the other side, the tweet displays a live-action reproduction of the iconic cover with Gustin and Sears in their respective roles.
Comic fans are aware of the fact that Garrick as the original Flash. Garrick was a midwestern chemistry student in college who was involved in an accident that caused him to be covered with chemicals that transformed him into the first speedster, several years before Barry was ever born or Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanaugh) appeared in the picture. Actually, a quote from the DC Comics issue of "The Flash" that featured in the television show's tweet teases the tension that may possibly take place between Garrick and Barry.
Garrick asks, "How can you possibly claim to be the Flash, Barry Allen," adding, "when I - Jay Garrick - am the Flash and have been so for more than 20 years?"
In fact, Garrick is among the long list of new characters slated to debuts in 'The Flash' Season 2. In actual fact, Garrick is not even the first new speedster that has been announced to join the show. Earlier this month, 'The Flash' announced that Keiynan Lonsdale had been signed on to portray the character Wally West - a.k.a. Kid Flash.
It now remains to be seen how Barry will be handling the appearance of Jay Garrick in Central City. Fans will need to wait to find out.
'The Flash' returns for its second seson to the CW on Oct. 6.
