'The Flash' People's Choice Award 2015 News: CW Show is Best New TV Drama

It was quite the surprise that 'The Flash' won the award for best new TV drama on Wednesday night at the People's Choice Award.

"The Flash beat out competition from fellow DC Comics adaptations Gotham and Constantine, as well as Forever and How to Get Away With Murder, for which star Viola Davis won a trophy," writes Comicbook.com.

This news comes off to be even more astonishing as 'The Flash' is on a generally smaller network (CW) than it's competitors.

This is also only the first award show of the year. This news can set the show up for a number of more wins.

The People's Choice Awards is an awards show fully dictated by the fans. It's interesting to see the public taken by such a risk-taking show.

It's also a fine time for the series to be getting this kind of recognition. The show certainly plans to heat things up in the coming weeks with its return from its midseason break.

"Yes sir, the bad guys will be running both hot and cold when The Flash comes back from its midseason break later this month as Captain Cold (the returning Wentworth Miller) and new bad guy Heat Wave (played by Miller's Prison Break bro and former Blade: Trinity 'Dracula' Dominic Purcell) team-up to take out the Scarlet Speedster. For added fun, the below trailer introduces us to the Pied Piper (played by Andy Mientus), who, much to Cisco's (Carlos Valdes) chagrin, comes with his own nickname," writes NerdB.

Actor Liam McIntyre is also confirmed to be joining the cast of villains this season as Mark Mandon, AKA The Weather Wizard, adapted from the comic books. This will be the fifth actor from the Spartacus series that will be injected into the Arrow/Flash universe.

On that note, the series will return on Tuesday, January 20th on the CW.
