'The Flash' News: Keiynan Lonsdale Officially Cast as Wally West
DC Comics has just introduced the newest speedster to enter the second season of CW's 'The Flash' as 'Insurgent' actor Keiynan Lonsdale.
He's set to portray the role of Wally West, a character in comics that becomes imbued with the same powers as The Flash after a very similar incident. He's later seen becoming Kid Flash and is also Iris West's nephew.
"Lonsdale is an emerging actor who was most recently seen in Insurgent, the second chapter of the blockbuster Divergent franchise. Flash Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of the casting, "Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show," DC Comics quoted.
The character hasn't yet been confirmed to become a speedster on the show, or don the name of Kid Flash, however he has been listed as a series regular. Fans can most likely expect to see Wally suit up toward the mid to end of season 2.
Accompanying Wally West will be the Golden Age version of the Flash character, Jay Garrick. Teddy Sears has been announced to portray the character, and has been said to play a key role in saving Central City from impending doom.
"Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. "It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn't imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy."
'The Flash' plans to return to the CW on October 6.
