'The Flash' New Cast News: 'Walking Dead' Actress Emily Kinney Tapped to Play Villain

Actress Emily Kinney has almost immediately moved on from her role in 'The Walking Dead' to play an iconic villain in CW's 'The Flash'.

Kinney will be cast as DC Comics' Bug-Eyed Bandit, but the show has put a spin on the character by making the classically male villain, a female. The show has been notorious for putting being close to the original comic book was they can, but adapting characters and villains as they see fit.

"Kinney will appear in Episode 18, 'All-Star Team-Up', as Brie Larvan - aka Bertram in comics lore - when Arrow's Ray Palmer and Felicity visit Central City for help with his A.T.O.M. Exosuit," writes TV Line.

They go on to say, "Brie is described as a narcissistic tech wizard wreaking havoc in Central City. Upon arriving in town, Felicity recognizes Brie as her nemesis, and the two women engage in a hacker battle for The Flash's life."

In the comics, the Bug-Eyed Bandit is essentially The Atom's villain, but it sounds like the show will likely pit Brie and Felicity against each other. Throughout the series Felicity has been the only character on 'Arrow' without a clear defined villain, this upcoming episode on 'The Flash' will change that.

This will at least let fans of Kinney see her break out of her nice girl role and see how successful she can be as a villain.

The long list of villains on the show ceaselessly grows, as there has still been plenty more announced to appear before the end of season one.

"Of course, 'The Flash' will have plenty of other challenges to deal with in the coming weeks, including the out-of-control 'Nuclear Man', a second Weather Wizard, two generations of Tricksters, as well as those pesky Rogues adding yet another member to their ranks," writes Screen Crush.
