'The Fall' Season 3 Spoilers, News: Gillian Anderson & Jamie Dornan Return for Final Series Installment
After a shocking second season finale, fans of BBC's "The Fall" are excited to hear that the series will return for a third season.
"The Fall" stars Gillian Anderson as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson and Jamie Dornan as serial killer Paul Spector. This psychological thriller is about Gibson pursuing Spector while he is stalking her. However, fans were unsure if Dornan would return as the second season finale ended in a cliffhanger.
The five-episode third season will most likely be the last one as the season is being described as "one last act," according to Collider.
The first season was very violent as the series showed brutal depictions of Dornan's killings. The second season took more of a psychological turn and so the third season could either explore something new in the characters or keep what it had done in the past.
"The Fall" creator, writer and director Allan Cubitt was thankful that the show would return for a third season. He said the cliffhanger "was conceived in the hope of further exploring the character and the themes that are at the heart of 'The Fall.'"
According to Deadline, the second series had an average of 3.3 million viewers and a 12.5 percent share for BBC Two, making it one of the British network's highest-performing dramas of 2014.
Gillian Anderson is most known for her role in the '90s sci-fi television series "The X-Files" and Jamie Dornan is most known for his role in this year's film "Fifty Shades of Grey."
The first two seasons of "The Fall" are currently available on Netflix, and the third season's premiere has not yet been determined.
