'The Expendables' TV Series News: Movie to SpinOff into New Television Show

The highly action driven movie franchise 'The Expendables' plans to branch out to the small screen with its own original television series.

The series has been picked up by Fox and is described as "a fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist," writes Deadline.

'Expendables' star Sylvester Stallone will stand as executive producer for the series alongside Avi Lerner. Greg Coolidge, and Kirk Ward, and 'NCIS: LA' showrunner Shane Brennan who will write the script.

The cast from the movies won't be reprising their roles in the series, instead the producers plan to recruit relevant television action stars to helm the new series.

There also isn't anyone confirmed for any roles, but Deadline speculates these actors to be likely candidates:

"Walker Texas Ranger's Chuck Norris, who already is part of The Expendables feature franchise, 24's Kiefer Sutherland, Magnum P.I.'s Tom Selleck, Xena's Lucy Lawless, Quantum Leap's Scott Bakula, Alias' Jennifer Garner, A-Team's Mr. T and Strike Back's Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester, just to name a few."

There isn't any word if the new show will feature any of the movie's supercharged cast but it is of course a possibility.

On that note, a premiere date for the new 'Expendables' based series has yet to be announced.
