'The Division' Video Game News: Star Jessica Chastain In Talks For The Upcoming Ubisoft Film?

"The Martian" and "Crimson Peak" actress Jessica Chastain might star Magnus Jansen's Ubisoft video game-based film "The Division," as per reports.

Chastain is in talks for the upcoming Ubisoft film, opposite "Southpaw" star Jake Gyllenhaal, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. As per the publication, Gyllenhaal is also producing the film with Ubisoft's Gerard Guillemot.

Inspired by Directive 51 and Operation Dark Winter,"The Division" centers on actual events which shows a dystopian society as complex and fragile. Set in New York City, the plot revolves on a smallpox pandemic.

Ubisoft's film is set to be at par with the game's premise about a disease that spreads on a Black Friday, which leads to the decline of the United States in five days. In the game, the player acts as an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, also called The Division, and he is tasked to look for the roots of the outbreak.

Along with Ridley Scott's "The Martian" and Guillermo del Toro's "Crimson Peak," the actress is also known for her roles in Cedric Nicolas-Troyan's action-adventure film "The Huntsman: Winter's War" and Christopher Nolan's sci-fi film "Interstellar."

Aside from "The Division," Chastain is set to appear in Patrick Brice's comedy film "Plus One," Niki Caro's biographical history film "The Zookeeper's Wife," and John Madden's drama film "Miss Sloane," among others.

As per IGN, Ubisoft Motion Pictures is also in search for a scriptwriter, along with Jansen set to helm the film. Also, the studio is set to release another film "Assassins' Creed," which stars "X-Men" actor Michael Fassbender.

Jansen's "The Division" was released on Mar 8. while the movie version is set to be released this year. Details on the exact release date are yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, Justin Kurzel's "Assassin's Creed" is slated to be released in theaters on Dec. 21.
