'The Dark Tower' Movie Release Date Pushed Back, But Only For A Few Months
The movie adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" has been delayed for just five months as the people behind the new film reportedly wants to make sure the special effects are seamless.
According to the news report from Entertainment Weekly, the principal photography for the film, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, has already finished last July but owing to a lot of CGIs needed to enhance the story.
It is for this reason that "The Dark Tower" movie was delayed from the original Feb. 17 to July 28 instead.
"It's a very fiscally responsible budget, and trying to stay in budget to make money and stay profitable means the VFX won't be finished in time [for February]," the alleged source said. "Now that there's more time, they're not paying rush charges to get the effects where they need to be."
If there's somebody who will be disappointed with this new development, it would be Idris Elba.
In an earlier interview, he talked about breathing life into the character created by Stephen King.
"I was thrilled. I was thrilled to get this job," Elba says. "I was thrilled because, you know, it's an alternative to what you could say, what Roland is described as."
The delay in the "The Dark Tower" movie will also give the producers more time to craft a promo campaign, the report said.
